04 - FAQ

ASCII Image FAQ

Quick answers for private image conversion, export formats, character ramps, and related ASCII tools.

01

Is Image to ASCII private?

Yes. Image to ASCII runs in your browser, so source images stay on your device during conversion. If you need colored terminal text, open Image to ANSI; if you need animated output, use Video to ASCII after testing still-frame settings here.

02

Can I edit the finished ASCII art?

ASCII Tool does not include a dedicated text editor yet. For now, copy or export the generated text and use ASCIIFlow for manual cleanup, layout changes, or diagram-style edits. If you need character references, check the ASCII characters table .

03

How do I improve my results?

  • High-contrast images with clear subjects convert best.
  • Use the "Image filters" to adjust the brightness and contrast.
  • Highlight important details using the "Brightness Threshold" in the "Edges" tab.
  • Adjust and crop your image before converting.
04

Does image to ASCII support video?

Use Video to ASCII for animated text and frame exports. Image to ASCII only supports still images. For a colored version of the image, use Image to ANSI.

05

Can Image to ASCII make colored output?

Image to ASCII workflow can export monochrome output, ideal for universal purposes. Adjust the background and text color in the "Color" tab. Use Image to ANSI for richer colored output that can be exported as images or used in terminal output.
